Susan Bell
Susan Bell was my first real girlfriend. We went out together during our 1963 to 65 schooldays, then split up after an incident at a party. I saw her again a few months later when I called at her home in Bolton, and I think she was soon going off to college. The last I heard, she'd got married and gone to Poland.
Bolton School Boys' Division photo
Recently, I found some old school photographs from the 60s - the wide panoramic ones of all the pupils and teachers of the school set out in 10 or so rows. First, I looked at a Boys' Division photo from 1964. I'm on it here, third from the left on the next row to the top. Also on the photo are George Tootell, Alan Tetlow, Pete Turbefield, Sandy Callender, Henry Smith, 'Jack' Stredder, 'Mo' Worsley (some of my school friends). My two brothers are on as well, and hundreds of other faces I recognize amongst the boys and teachers. If you stare at a picture like this, it takes you right back to the moment.
Bolton School Girls' Division photo
I then looked at the Girls' Division photo, also from 1964. Susan Bell is at the top right of this image, wearing a white blouse and a slim school tie. In your formative years things leave their mark on the subconscious, to be uncovered much later, maybe. And the older you get, the more you reach back to appreciate those experiences. Seeing the school photos again got me wondering where she is now.
Anyone know what happened to Susan Bell?
If someone does know what happened to Susan Margaret (née) Bell, Bolton School Girls' Division (class of 65 or 66), I'd be interested to hear. Better still, if you're Susan, you could get in touch.
See everyone on the 1964 Bolton School Girls' Division photograph.
My name is Susan Bell but I was born in 1962 so sorry if I got your hopes up, just had to leave a note it's weird reading about someone with the same name, i'm also blonde and have a serious expression on photos if having to pose, my "straight" face is also a "serious" looking face! Spooky or what.
Anyway good luck in your quest for susan.
I'm another Susan Bell! But born in Suffolk in 1952, so alas not the one you're looking for…
It's a nice name anyway. I suppose the Susan I knew isn't called Bell any more. I presume she got married and maybe has a Polish surname. People do seem to search the web for their own names, but I don't know what women tend to do when they have a choice between married and maiden. It must depend on what they're really searching for.
THIS IS FUNNY. MY NAME IS SUSAN BELL, TOO. I WAS BORN IN CHICAGO IN 1966. CAN'T BELIEVE HOW MANY SUSAN BELLS THERE WERE.
And the name Susan Bell keeps going. Sorry I'm not the one, I was born in New Zealand 1959. I have found about 7 Susan Bell's in New Zealand.
Wonderful name isnt it.
Hey! maybe the Susan Bell you're looking for is the famous astronomist!
I'm making a school job about her, so I googled her named and i entered this web page… But I don't think it's the same Susan, because her second name is Jocelyn…
Sorry, and good luck finding her!
My mum is called Susan Margeret Bell, but she was from Birmingham and settled down in Nottinghamshire in the late 70's.
Good luck in the quest for your Susan Margeret Bell!
Here's another one! A classmate back in the sixties at Bury Grammar School, this Susan Bell was tall, slim and brunette. She'll be 58 now - horror! that means I am too!
Keep searching!
No, the Susan Bell I'm referring to wouldn't have become an 'astronomist' and most likely isn't called 'Bell' any more, as she got married. If you search Facebook for your own name, you'll see just how many members there are with the same name, and that's just the youngsters on Facebook. But yes, she'll now be 58-59 - nice! that means I am too!
Hi Patrick! Gill told me this weekend you had a website. Couldn't resist pulling it up. Good to catch up on your very interesting life. What a lot of memories you have! Hope you find Sue Bell. Enjoy your visit with Gill. Happy Holidays to you and yours. Maggie Graham.
Hi… I too am a Susan Bell (nee Welsh). Born in Blackburn in 1957 I went to John Rigby High School (formally Mary Mount school for girls). I now live in Chorley in Lancashire and work as a teacher in a college of further education. I am not the one your looking for as i am only "bell "by marriage… so continue with your search and good luck to all the Susan Bell's out there. Su
Thanks for the responses. I've discovered all I need to know. She now lives with her husband in Bradford, England. And she went to Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic), not Poland.
